CSL’s work with Careium features in From Analogue to Digital: How the UK tech sector can deliver the 10-Year Health Plan, a new report from techUK examining how digital technology is already supporting transformation across health and social care.
The CSL case study focuses on a fundamental requirement for digital care: reliable connectivity. As analogue telephone services and legacy mobile networks are retired, telecare providers need to ensure that critical alarms can continue to reach monitoring centres if the primary connection fails.
Working with Careium, CSL deployed its patented DualCore® rSIM® technology across Careium’s 4G Eliza telecare range. The solution monitors connectivity and can switch autonomously between independent mobile network cores, without relying on the device or monitoring platform to initiate failover.
CSL provides DualCore resilience through both rSIM and compatible DualSIM® solutions. With rSIM, switching is managed by the SIM within the connected device. With a DualSIM solution, switching is managed by the device using connections designed to route through independent mobile cores. This allows the most appropriate approach to be selected for different device designs and deployment requirements.
DualCore’s resilience was demonstrated during a mobile core network outage in February 2026. Affected devices automatically transferred to the backup connection, enabling 136 alarm calls from 70 service users to be delivered successfully with no loss of service.
The case study shows why the transition from analogue to digital is about more than replacing old technology. Resilient connectivity provides the foundation needed to support safer independent living, continuous remote monitoring and earlier intervention beyond hospital settings.
