SECURE YOUR FUTURE WITH APPRENTICES

The Engineers of Tomorrow competition took centre stage in the brand new Installer Live Zone at IFSEC 2015.

The Engineers of Tomorrow competition took centre stage in the brand new Installer Live Zone at IFSEC 2015. CSL DualCom was once again a proud sponsor alongside, NSI, SSAIB and Skills for Security.

Apprentices and Engineers who took part helped raise the profile of their company, whilst proving their skills on a global stage and achieving NVQ portfolio credits. Competitors undertook a 90 minute assessment consisting of installation, fault finding and commissioning a system. The overall winning Engineers and their employers will be invited to the prestigious Security Excellence Awards in London where they will discover who will be named Engineer of Tomorrow 2015 and win a £1000 prize.

Engineers of Tomorrow is part of Apprenticeships for Fire & Security, an initiative that aims to place Apprentices into careers in the industry and support their future development. It was co-founded by Simon Banks, Group Managing Director of CSL DualCom and has helped to place over 3000 young people into careers. Simon commented, ‘Left unchecked, the UK skills gap will match that of post-war Britain by 2020. The Security Industry along with 100 other sectors is forming its own Trailblazer framework curriculum for issue in 2017 to help close the gap. Well done to all of the employers and apprentices who took part in this year’s competition and are already recognising the benefits of apprenticeships’.

This year’s heat winners included:

  • Carlos and Bobby Dhunay from Telcam Security Systems
  • Jack Baker, Harrison Cooke, Bradley Gilmour and Brian O’Reilly from Kings Security
  • Padraig Lennon from NM Fire & Security
  • Jonathan English from H&J Martin

The runners up included entrants from Banham, Swift Fire and Security, PG Security and Fidelity Integrated Systems.
